THE ULTIMATE TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
ATC —The Training Manuel for Trainers
I have had the absolute privilege of co-writing and editing the ATC manual for DASU the Danish Motorsport Association and super importantly I implemented the whole program into the Go-kart clubs in Denmark. Denmark has more professional racecar drivers per capita than any other nation.
TEAM DENMARK, The Danish National Sport Association, years ago realized that the way sports coaching of the day was being conducted had outlived its usefulness in the modern world. The old-school approach of a tough, rigorous and authoritarian style was not the way to develop and grow talent. Disciplinarian coaching made too many youngsters quit and or left them mentally scared. So the question was, how do we develop a new model where most boy and girls can thrive to high achievements in a tiny country of only 6 million people because the talent pool is somewhat limited.
Using the latest physical and phycological knowledge TEAM DENMARK initiated that every individual sport association, under their funding umbrella, to start designing a manual and model to develop talent from when young boy and girls most often start sports activities at around 5 to 6 years old to map out the road to becoming professional. Enabling athletes to grow their skills and physical abilities at the appropriate time in their lives.
The ATC is a modern training framework that develops young athletes based on physiological maturity rather than age. Divided into three key stages—pre-puberty-during-and post-puberty— it ensures each player gets the appropriate training at the appropriate time. The program equips coaches with evidence-based tools to nurture talent safely and effectively, respecting individual growth patterns. By integrating physical and psychological development, ATC lays a solid foundation for long-term performance and resilience.
MENTAL FITNESS
To sustain a successful sports career, mental fitness is just as vital as physical skill. Our Mental Fitness program helps athletes navigate identity, role and position, motivation, self-worth, and performing under pressure, while also developing key life skills. Focused on both individual well-being and team resilience, it prepares athletes for the psychological challenges of competitive sport, laying the groundwork for long-term success.
BELONGING
Belonging is essential to team success. Proven models of integration help build strong, winning teams sustain performance through shared aims, culture and legacy. When new members join, they inherit the responsibility to carry forward the team’s identity, contributing to its evolving story and future legacy.
THE GOOD CLUB
The true measure of a club’s success lies in the culture and legacy. The ATC Club Development Program offers a roadmap for best practices in club-building and community engagement. By fostering strong connections with families, fans, and the broader community, we help create a lasting impact both on and off the pitch.
